In a recent turn of events, Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2baba, announced the end of his 12-year marriage to actress and reality TV star, Annie Macaulay. The announcement was made via a social media post on January 26, 2025, “Hello to my beautiful people of all federations. Well, this thing I have to say is short but also long…I and Annie Macaulay have been separated for a while now. And currently filed (sic) divorce…I would grant a press release soon to say my story…not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life; but because I love my people and I need them to know my innocence or offense. Stay blessed, my people. I love you all.” which was later deleted with claims that his account had been hacked.
However, 2baba confirmed in a subsequent video that he was the one who made the original post.
According to a source close to the couple, some members of 2baba’s team were upset that he made the information public and attempted to cover it up by claiming the account was hacked. The source also mentioned that the couple had been struggling for a while, although they had been trying to work things out. Following the announcement, 2baba reportedly agreed to stop posting or granting interviews regarding the situation.
2baba’s long and complex relationship with Annie has been filled with ups and downs. The couple’s relationship began years ago, and despite numerous controversies, including 2baba fathering children with other women, they eventually married in 2013. However, the marriage has been marked by infidelity, jealousy, and suspicions, particularly involving Pero Adeniyi, one of 2baba’s exes. Annie’s jealousy over Pero’s relationship with 2baba led to several public confrontations.
In 2021, Annie made a public outburst accusing 2baba of traveling to the US to be with Pero, further fueling the tension between the couple.
