Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has once again sparked conversations online as she opened up about her views on marriage and relationships.
Speaking during a recent interview on Naija FM Lagos, the 42 years old movie star revealed that while she remains open to the idea of remarriage, she is no longer actively searching for it. According to her, personal growth, peace of mind, and stability now take priority over societal expectations.
“I am open to remarriage if it comes, but I am not looking for it. I have learnt not to say ‘never’,” she explained.
“I think marriage is overrated. A lot of people who dated for 10 to 15 years, got married and they broke up within 2 to 3 years. Sometimes, you wonder why such couples didn’t just remain unmarried. Because when they add the marriage tag, a lot of intolerance gets in the way.
“I think it is better to find who you love and just cohabit with them,” she added.
Reflecting on her past, Yvonne shared insights into her previous marriage to fellow actor Olakunle Abounce Fawole, which ended in 2019 after less than a year. She explained that financial imbalance and a lack of respect played major roles in the separation.
In earlier interviews, the actress admitted she was the main provider and expressed regret over choosing love without financial security. Her honesty has since ignited widespread reactions online.
