Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has spoken out against online critics amid his current goal drought at Werder Bremen, where he is yet to score in seven Bundesliga appearances since joining on loan.
Boniface, who moved to the German club on transfer deadline day after his proposed switch to AC Milan collapsed, has faced intense backlash from fans — particularly on X (formerly Twitter) — over his lack of goals.
The Nigerian forward revealed that Milan pulled out of his loan deal due to medical concerns over his previous ACL injuries, despite an agreement that included a €24 million buy option. Werder Bremen took the gamble, but Boniface has since managed only one assist — a performance that has drawn criticism from impatient supporters.
Addressing the trolls, Boniface said in an interview with Soccer Laduma:
“When you don’t score, people talk. But trust me, you don’t know anything about me. I’ve seen things in life — I’m strong, and those words don’t affect me.”
He further slammed fans who judge players by stats instead of watching games:
“Most people just check LiveScore and start insulting. They don’t even watch matches.”
Following the wave of negativity, the striker has reportedly reduced his presence on X, focusing instead on Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and Twitch — platforms he says bring more positivity.
