In a surprising political development, the Chairman of Agege Local Government, Hon. Tunde Azeez, popularly known as Disco, has officially resigned from office, citing serious health challenges that have hindered his ability to perform his duties effectively.
The Legislative Arm of the council confirmed receiving his resignation letter, which was immediately read and accepted during a plenary session. Lawmakers unanimously approved his decision, emphasizing that Azeez’s move reflects maturity, integrity, and the importance of prioritizing personal health over power.
Following the acceptance of his resignation, the council swiftly approved Hon. AbdulGaniyu Vinod Obasa as the new substantive Chairman of Agege Local Government. The appointment takes immediate effect.
According to the lawmakers, the transition is aimed at ensuring leadership continuity, political stability, and smooth governance within the local government.
Interestingly, the new chairman, Hon. Vinod Obasa, is the son of Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, sparking mixed reactions among residents and political observers.
Many have praised the peaceful handover, calling it a sign of political order, while others are watching closely to see how Vinod’s leadership will shape the future of Agege.
