History was made in Santiago, Chile, as Morocco’s U20 team stunned the football world by defeating Argentina 2-0 to win their first-ever FIFA U20 World Cup title.
The North African side became the first African nation since Ghana in 2009 to lift the prestigious trophy.
Star striker Yassir Zabiri was the hero of the night, netting both goals in the 12th and 29th minutes to seal a historic victory at the Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos. Morocco’s impressive journey saw them top a tough group featuring Spain, Brazil, and Mexico, before eliminating South Korea, the USA, and France in the knockout stages.
Meanwhile, Colombia claimed third place after a narrow 1-0 win over France.
