Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has officially ended months of transfer speculation by signing a new long-term contract that will keep him at Camp Nou until June 2029.
According to football insider Fabrizio Romano, the Dutch international’s contract renewal will be formally announced on Wednesday, reaffirming his importance in Hansi Flick’s squad. De Jong, who joined Barcelona from Ajax in 2019 for €75 million, has become one of the club’s most consistent and technically gifted players.
Reports suggest the new deal includes a reduced salary of around €12 million per season — a move aimed at easing Barça’s financial strain. Despite Manchester United’s past interest, De Jong stood firm, declaring his love for the club: “Barcelona is my dream team.”
With over 250 appearances and six major trophies, including two La Liga titles, De Jong’s extension marks a major boost for the Catalan giants as they continue their rebuild.
