With Nigeria’s hopes of reaching the 2026 FIFA World Cup hanging in the balance, Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has delivered a passionate message of belief and determination.
As the team prepares to face Lesotho on Friday and Benin Republic next week in two must-win qualifiers, Troost-Ekong made it clear that the mission is far from over.
Currently sitting third in Group C with 11 points — just three behind joint leaders Benin and South Africa — the Super Eagles must win both games and hope for favorable outcomes elsewhere. It’s a challenging road, but one the captain believes they can conquer.
“We’re optimistic, and we’re always going to fight till the end,” Troost-Ekong said, rallying fans and teammates alike. “We believe, and we’re never going to stop believing.”
The skipper also confirmed that team morale is strong and focus is laser-sharp. “Our attention is fully on Lesotho. That’s the first step, and we’ll give everything we’ve got.”
As the countdown to kickoff begins, Nigeria’s dream is alive — and with Troost-Ekong leading the charge, the Super Eagles aren’t backing down.
