Afrobeats sensation Terry G has sparked a wave of reactions online after dropping some deep thoughts about the struggles many Nigerians face today, linking it directly to poor parental upbringing.

In a post shared via his X handle, the energetic singer explained that a lot of the self-doubt and lack of confidence people battle with in adulthood often comes from negative words spoken by their parents while raising them. According to him, children tend to carry the weight of those harsh words into their adult lives, unknowingly repeating the cycle.

Terry G stressed that when people say “I can’t do this” or “I’m not good enough,” most times they are only echoing the limiting beliefs planted in them during childhood. His post has since ignited conversations about the power of positive parenting, self-esteem, and breaking generational cycles.

Terry G wrote:

“Our Nigerian parents really do many of us strong things. The point I’m making is this: when you come under my post saying you’ll never make it, that’s not really you speaking, it’s the voice of what you grew up hearing at home. When you say, ‘you can’t do this, you can’t do that,’ you’re only repeating what your father and mother told you growing up.
