Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina has been dealt a huge setback after suffering a serious hamstring injury while representing Nigeria against South Africa. The former Chelsea star lasted just 12 minutes on the pitch before being forced off and replaced by Bright Osayi-Samuel. Reports confirm that Aina will be sidelined for up to three months, with his return not expected until the end of the year.
The versatile full-back has been a crucial figure for Forest this season, playing every minute of their Premier League campaign so far. Sadly, his absence has now forced the club to omit him from their newly submitted league squad.
On the international front, Aina’s injury is also a major blow for the Super Eagles, as he will miss Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic in October, as well as a friendly clash with Venezuela in November. Fans will be hoping for his speedy recovery as both club and country prepare for decisive fixtures ahead.
