Former Super Eagles legend, Victor Ikpeba, has voiced strong confidence in Nigeria’s chances ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Eagles will battle Rwanda’s Amavubi on Saturday, September 6, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, before locking horns with South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in Bloemfontein four days later.
Currently sitting fourth in their group with 7 points from 6 games, the pressure is on the Eagles. But Ikpeba believes the squad has what it takes to bounce back and revive their World Cup dreams with two big wins.
“The boys have let down the country, they ought to take responsibility (for the poor run),” Ikpeba said on Monday Night Football on SuperSport TV. “This is because the players make great managers and teams. But we can’t dwell on the past. “There’s pride, determination and honour to play for your country. I believe the boys are now ready and determined to do the job against Rwanda and South Africa. “We can do it, but we have to fight for it, we have to earn it.”
