Hollywood legend Denzel Washington has boldly shut down cancel culture, stressing that faith and values matter far more than online clout. In a sit-down with Complex, the Oscar-winning actor made it clear that followers and social media approval hold no weight in his life.
According to him, “You can’t lead and follow at the same time. I follow God, not people.” Washington, who recently bagged his 11th Golden Globe nomination and a win for Gladiator II, insists he’s not retiring anytime soon.
“I didn’t say I was going to retire,” he told BuzzFeed. “I said that it has to be a level of interest for me. I’m more interested in getting behind the camera — maybe five years out. Life has three parts: you learn, you earn, you return. I’m in the return part of life.”
