Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has delivered a powerful message to believers worldwide, warning against chasing material wealth at the expense of spiritual growth, calling such a pursuit “foolish.”
Speaking at the RCCG 73rd Annual Convention themed “The Overcomers,” he reminded Christians that true victory in Christ demands discipline, sacrifice, and resistance to worldly distractions.
“God is not against enjoyment,” he stated, adding that “the body you’re pampering and beautifying will return to dust. It’s your spirit that will stand before God, so nurture that.”
“If you’re chasing money and losing your soul in the process, that’s stupidity,” he said. “What use is your wealth when you d+e? You can’t take any of it with you.”
Adeboye acknowledged that prosperity is part of God’s promises but condemned gaining riches through lying, cheating, or stealing. He urged believers to stay steadfast, noting that “becoming a champion takes discipline, but staying one takes even more.” Encouraging the faithful, he assured them that life’s battles are winnable with the Holy Spirit’s help.
