Top Nigerian music video director Clarence Peters is trending after revealing he forgave his legendary father, Sir Shina Peters, long before they ever sat down to address their issues. Speaking on the Afropolitan podcast, Clarence shared that he hit a moment of deep reflection around 2014/2015, when he realized he had made the same mistakes his father once did. That revelation, he said, marked the true beginning of his adulthood.
Born to Shina Peters and veteran Nollywood actress Clarion Chukwura, Clarence once disclosed that his mother nearly terminated the pregnancy but changed her mind after believing he was the reincarnation of her late father.
“I made every single mistake my father made,” Clarence admitted. “I was just fortunate that time and technology prevented mine from being as disastrous as his. Once I realised that, I forgave him immediately, even before we talked. That was the start of my adulthood, and I’m still on that journey because adulthood never really ends.”
In an emotional interview with Chude Jideonwo, Clarence admitted that although he once resented his dad for the way he treated his mother, he eventually recognized that he, too, was flawed. While he strives not to emulate his father’s relationship patterns, he humbly confessed, “I’m not perfect.”
