Popular social commentator, Very Dark Man (real name Vincent Martins Otse), has clapped back at critics accusing him of betrayal after he was spotted hanging out with Burna Boy. Social media users slammed VDM, calling him an ingrate for allegedly turning his back on Davido, who they claim helped elevate him.
But VDM has now cleared the air, stating bluntly that Davido never gave him a dime. According to him, when he visited Lagos to meet Davido, many assumed the singer sponsored his trip and paid for his hotel — but that wasn’t true. He stayed silent at the time for the sake of social media entertainment.
VDM explained that while Davido once pledged to donate to his NGO, he never begged for it and never received money directly. He insisted that neither Davido nor his 30BG crew could accuse him of ever collecting cash or handouts.
Speaking on his recent hangout with Burna Boy, VDM said their conversation was centered around cars, politics, and the struggle of Nigerian youths — not Davido or any other celebrity.
He concluded by reminding his critics that he is a free man who belongs to no camp: “I’m not anybody’s boy. I go where I want, say what I want, and criticize who I want.”
