Former Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi is back in the Italian football scene as he officially joins Serie D outfit, Acireale. The club announced the signing but kept contract details under wraps, sparking curiosity among fans.
Onazi, who kickstarted his professional journey with Lazio, boasts an impressive track record, including a Coppa Italia win in the 2012/13 season. With 76 appearances and four goals for the Rome-based club, he later moved to Turkey, where he lifted the Turkish Cup with Trabzonspor in 2019/20.
The seasoned midfielder has also played for clubs like Denizlispor, Zalgiris Vilnius, Casertana, and Avezzano. Onazi remains a fan favorite in Nigeria, especially for his role in the Super Eagles’ 2013 AFCON victory and his appearances at the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups.
