The Federal Ministry of Education has officially shut down viral reports claiming that the 2025 WAEC exams have been cancelled due to alleged widespread malpractice and question leaks. In a strong press release issued on Sunday, July 20, the ministry labelled the news as false, fabricated, and dangerously misleading.
According to the ministry, the 2025 WASSCE was successfully concluded with only a few isolated cases of malpractice, all of which were swiftly handled. Meanwhile, the ongoing NECO exams are progressing without any recorded issues.
The fake announcement, allegedly signed by one “Dr. Aisha Lawal,” claimed a nationwide exam cancellation over question paper leaks. But the ministry firmly denies any such decision, urging students, parents, and schools to disregard the false claims and rely only on verified sources like education.gov.ng, waecnigeria.org, and neco.gov.ng.
They’ve also warned that anyone caught spreading fake news will face security investigations and possible prosecution.
Let’s stop misinformation in its tracks.
