Peter Okoye, famously known as Mr P and formerly one-half of the legendary P-Square duo, has finally opened up about the internal tensions that led to the group’s infamous breakup. Speaking candidly during a performance at the AY Live show, Mr P addressed years of fan-driven rivalry between him and his twin brother, Paul Okoye, stating that public favoritism played a major role in their split.
According to Peter, the constant comparison from fans, often leaning in favor of Paul, inflated his brother’s ego and resulted in “misbehavior” that strained their working relationship. He stressed that many fans were misled into believing he lacked talent, despite his multi-faceted abilities.
“They told you I was talentless, but I can sing, dance, play the piano and the guitar — is that easy?” Mr P fired back. “I’m the only person in the Okoye family with a music certificate. I studied music, but they lied to you.”
He urged fans to stop creating unnecessary division, hinting that misinformation and biased praise were instrumental in the group’s fallout.
