In a powerful move to foster youth empowerment, gender inclusion, and grassroots sports development, global sportswear brand adidas, in partnership with their Nigerian franchise LATC, has donated 200 adidas footballs to 20 schools across Lagos State. This impactful gesture, made in collaboration with the Lagos State Sports Commission, ensures that both male and female teams benefit equally—promoting inclusivity in school sports.
To commemorate the donation, Dave Thomas, CEO of adidas Global Emerging Markets, paid a courtesy visit to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, where he presented a symbolic football at the Lagos House, Marina.
“Sport has the power to shape the future,” said an adidas spokesperson. “This donation is an investment in the dreams, well-being, and leadership growth of every child in Lagos. We believe in giving them the opportunity to play, grow, and thrive.”
LATC’s Chief Strategy Officer, Kingsley Oko, emphasized that the initiative supports the development of “total students”—those who grow not just academically, but also emotionally, socially, and physically through the power of sport.
The Lagos State Sports Commission praised the effort, highlighting its role in boosting grassroots sports and strengthening gender equity in school competitions.
