Social media has been abuzz after Nollywood producer Stanley Ontop revealed the arrest of dancer Lil Smart at an undisclosed location.
The Nigeria Police Force has since confirmed the arrest, stating that Lil Smart was taken into custody on charges of cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and disseminating false information against popular singer Naira Marley.
According to the authorities, his arrest took place last month at his residence in Megamound Estate, Ajah, Lagos, where significant evidence was recovered. The case has sparked widespread discussions across social media platforms.
The police statement reads:
“Following a petition filed by a law firm, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Unit arrested one Idowu Smart Emmanuel for criminal defamation, cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and spreading falsehoods against Abdulazeez Adeshina Fashola (popularly known as Naira Marley).”
The investigation revealed Lil Smart allegedly fabricated claims of abduction and assault using his Instagram handle.
“On January 28, 2025, he was apprehended at his residence in Megamound Estate, Ajah, Lagos, and the exhibits linked to the crime were recovered,” the police confirmed.
