The African Democratic Congress (ADC)-led opposition coalition has announced a new venue for the unveiling of its much-anticipated political platform after Wells Carlton Hotel abruptly pulled out less than 24 hours before the event. According to a statement by ADC Deputy National Secretary, Nkem Ukandu, the official launch will now take place at the prestigious Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.
The cancellation by Wells Carlton has raised eyebrows and triggered speculation of political interference. The hotel vaguely cited an “internal compliance matter,” leaving attendees and organizers scrambling for a new location. Media personality and politician Dele Momodu shared the hotel’s apology online, further fueling public outrage.
Sources within the coalition believe pressure from APC-led government forces may be behind the hotel’s sudden decision. The event marks a major milestone for the opposition, with the ADC emerging as the adopted platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Big political names like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, David Mark, Nasir El-Rufai, and Rauf Aregbesola are said to be backing the coalition’s momentum.
