Zlatan Ibrahimovic has never been one to hold back his words, and his latest critique is causing a storm online. Following Inter Miami’s shocking 4-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup round of 16, the former Barcelona and AC Milan striker didn’t mince words—especially when addressing Lionel Messi’s performance.
Ibrahimovic, who once played alongside Messi at Barcelona, branded Inter Miami a “circus filled with statues,” suggesting the MLS club lacks structure, coaching quality, and players with tactical intelligence. “This isn’t the Messi I know,” Zlatan said. “If you placed him in a proper team, you’d witness the real lion again. Right now, he’s surrounded by players who move like they’re carrying cement bags!”
He claimed Messi is playing purely for the love of football, not because he’s being pushed by a world-class team. Despite being flanked by legends like Suarez, Busquets, and Alba, Zlatan described Messi as a “ghost playing in a circus,” unable to reach his full potential in a team that can’t meet his elite standards.
