The Lagos State Government has strongly refuted claims made by Peter Obi, alleging that it authorized the demolition of a property belonging to his brother. In a detailed statement, Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso, called Obi’s accusation “misleading and unverified,” stating that no agency under Lagos State was involved in the incident.

According to Omotoso, LASBCA and its Special Adviser on Urban Development, Dr. Olajide Abiodun Babatunde, confirmed they had no hand in the demolition. He expressed concern over what appears to be a politically motivated statement, especially with local government elections approaching.

To clarify the controversy, the government has ordered a thorough investigation, with the Permanent Secretary for Urban Development, Arc. Gbolahun Owodunni Oki, tasked with uncovering the facts.

Obi had earlier claimed that his brother’s Ikeja-based business property was torn down without court orders and that personal belongings were lost in the process. The government, however, insists it had no role in the demolition and promises accountability if foul play is uncovered.
