Nigerians are expressing fresh frustration as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has increased the pump price of petrol to N915 per litre in Lagos and a staggering N945 per litre in Abuja. This marks a sharp rise from the previous prices of N870 and N910 respectively.
The development comes shortly after the Dangote Refinery announced an increase in its ex-depot petrol price to N880 per litre, triggering a ripple effect across other fuel marketers. For instance, MRS stations in Lagos—closely linked to the refinery—have also raised their prices to N925 per litre, up from N875.
This comes just days after Dangote rolled out a logistics strategy, acquiring 4,000 CNG-powered tankers to aid nationwide fuel distribution. Despite this, the cost burden continues to mount for everyday Nigerians already grappling with inflation and economic hardship.
