Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has just shaken the financial and sports worlds by becoming the first professional football club to officially adopt Bitcoin as part of its treasury reserves.

The groundbreaking announcement was made at the Bitcoin 2025 conference in Las Vegas by PSG Labs lead, Pär Helgosson, who revealed that the club had quietly converted part of its cash reserves into Bitcoin last year and continues to hold it.

Unlike many clubs that flirted with fan tokens and NFTs during the crypto boom, PSG’s move is not a gimmick it’s a bold, long-term commitment.

With over 550 million fans worldwide, most under 34, PSG sees Bitcoin as a key to engaging its digital-native audience.

But that’s not all the club is stepping into the world of crypto startups, pledging to support Bitcoin entrepreneurs by offering mentorship, brand exposure, and investment capital. PSG is clearly not just playing the game it’s changing it.
