Canadian rap superstar Drake has publicly thrown his support behind fellow artist Tory Lanez, calling on California Governor Gavin Newsom to grant a pardon for Lanez’s 2023 conviction.

Sharing a post on Instagram, Drake linked to a Change.org petition titled “Correct a Deep Injustice” with the heartfelt caption, “@torylanez come home soon.”

The petition, which has already amassed over 250,000 signatures, argues that Lanez’s conviction lacked solid physical evidence and claims the justice system unfairly targeted him with politically motivated sentencing enhancements.

Tory Lanez (Daystar Peterson) is currently serving a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of rapper Megan Thee Stallion, who was wounded in a Hollywood Hills incident.

The call for a pardon gains urgency amid reports that Lanez was stabbed multiple times in prison and treated at a medical facility. While Governor Newsom holds the power to pardon Lanez, no official response has been made yet. Drake’s involvement adds star power to the campaign, but the outcome remains uncertain.
