Popular Nigerian skit maker and comedian, Zicsaloma, has finally broken his silence regarding ongoing speculation about his comedic persona, clarifying that his portrayal of female characters in skits is purely for entertainment and not a reflection of his identity or lifestyle choices.
In a recent interview, the internet sensation, who recently had a nose and facial enhancement procedure in Turkey, firmly denied being a crossdresser. According to Zicsaloma, his use of wigs and female outfits is strictly a creative tool, part of his comedic delivery and not a personal statement.
“I am not a crossdresser,” he stated. “I only dress like women to make people laugh. I don’t even wear makeup outside my content—and I can do comedy without dressing like that.”
The comedian also addressed the broader conversation about male entertainers who adopt exaggerated female roles, stressing that character portrayal in comedy should not be misinterpreted. He challenged those accusing him of influencing real-life crossdressers, stating, “If someone mimics a Hausa man for laughs, would you say they influenced actual Hausa people’s behavior? The same applies here.”
Zicsaloma’s remarks come amid heightened discussions in Nigeria around gender roles, crossdressing, and comedic freedom. While some social media users have confused his performances with a personal agenda, many fans have praised him for his unique ability to embody multiple characters and bring laughter to millions. His clear stance has reignited debates about artistic expression and the fine line between performance and personal identity in the entertainment world.
