Nigerian chess maestro and education trailblazer Tunde Onakoya is gearing up to make history — and not just on the chessboard! The founder of the powerful Chess in Slums Africa movement is taking his passion to New York’s iconic Times Square, where he plans to smash the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon. His goal? A mind-blowing 70 hours of non-stop chess from April 17th to April 20th! ♟️🔥

But this isn’t just about breaking records — Onakoya is making every move count for a bigger dream: building Nigeria’s largest free school for homeless and underserved children. 💡🏫

Teaming up with U.S. National Chess Master Shawn Martinez, Onakoya will attempt to outlast the current 61-hour record set by two Norwegians. His mission is rooted in purpose — using this global spotlight to raise funds and awareness for children who’ve been robbed of opportunities simply because of where they were born.

Some of the brilliant kids from his Chess in Slums program will also make guest appearances, proving to the world that greatness can rise from the most unlikely places.

New York chess lovers are invited to show up, challenge him, and witness history in the making.
