Controversy is sizzling in the music space as the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) officially shuts down all radio and TV broadcasts of Eedris Abdulkareem’s trending track, “Tell Your Papa”—claiming it violates broadcast decency laws! 😳
According to a memo dated April 9, 2025, and signed by NBC’s Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring, Susan Obi, the song has been labeled NTBB (Not To Be Broadcast) under Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code. This clause bans any content considered “offensive, inappropriate, or contrary to public decency.”
NBC stated that while the song is trending like wildfire on social media and stirring heated debates, its lyrics don’t meet the ethical standards required for public airwaves.
Titled “Restriction on Broadcasting ‘Tell Your Papa’ by Eedris Abdulkareem”, the memo orders ALL broadcast stations across Nigeria to pull the plug on the song immediately. 📵
Despite the backlash brewing online, NBC insists it’s acting in the interest of “responsible broadcasting.” But fans aren’t having it—many are calling this a clear case of censorship, fueling even more hype around the song.
