Millions of people across the U.S. and globally rallied in massive ‘Hands Off!’ protests on Saturday, targeting President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. The protests, organized by a pro-democracy movement, aimed to push back against what they call a “hostile takeover” of American rights and freedoms. The movement’s demand: “Hands Off!”—calling for an end to the growing power of billionaires.
More than 1,400 mass-action events were held in every state, from state capitals to federal buildings, parks, and city halls. Organizers made sure to be heard loud and clear, gathering in places that would capture attention.
The movement’s message resonated widely, with nearly 600,000 people signing up to attend events across the country, including international locations like London and Paris. This nationwide protest was backed by civil rights organizations, veterans, women’s rights groups, labor unions, and LGBTQ+ advocates. The call was strong: it’s time to end the attack on democracy, jobs, privacy, and essential services.
Organizers say they have three demands: “an end to the billionaire takeover and rampant corruption of the Trump administration; an end to slashing federal funds for Medicaid, Social Security, and other programs working people rely on; and an end to the attacks on immigrants, trans people, and other communities.”
