Actress Iyabo Ojo has expressed regret over supporting the exhumation of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad. Speaking with Seun Oloketuyi, she admitted she wishes she hadn’t advocated for it, as Mohbad has yet to be reburied over a year later.
She explained that a viral video showing what appeared to be a broken neck in the casket prompted her to speak out. Ojo’s statement reflects her disappointment with the unresolved circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s burial, raising concerns about the handling of his case.
“As a mother, I had to vent, because everyone was emotional at that time, I really wish that we didn’t have to push for him to be exhumed. Till now he is yet to be buried. The video of his neck being broken in the casket I think that was what pushed me out to speak, I regret ever pushing for him to be exhumed,” she said.
Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, and was buried the following day. Due to public outcry, the Lagos State Police exhumed his body on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy. However, he has not been reburied, as his father, Joseph Aloba, insisted in October 2023 that a DNA test on Mohbad’s son, Liam, must be conducted first.
Actress Iyabo Ojo, in a recent interview, expressed regret over advocating for Mohbad’s exhumation, stating that the delay in his reburial has been disheartening. She also shared that she believes the blessings she and her children are receiving now are a result of her good deeds, suggesting that her advocacy and efforts have brought positivity into her life.
“Good pay. I feel like what I am reaping today or my children are reaping today is the good that I have done,” she said.
