Billboard has just dropped its Top 50 Best Afrobeats Songs of All Time, and the list is already sparking massive conversations across social media. Taking the number one spot is none other than 2Face Idibia’s timeless classic “African Queen,” a song that continues to define Afrobeats globally.
Wizkid emerged as the only artist with two entries in the top 10, as his iconic street anthem “Ojuelegba” landed at number 2, while his global smash “Essence” featuring Tems took the number 5 position. Other Afrobeats giants featured in the top 10 include Favour’s “Nwa Baby (Ashawo Remix)” (No. 3), Rema’s “Calm Down” (No. 4), and CKay’s global hit “Love Nwantiti” (No. 6).
The list is heavily dominated by Nigerian superstars, but Ghana wasn’t left out, as Fuse ODG’s “Azonto” and Sarkodie’s “Adonai” claimed spots at numbers 18 and 19. Meanwhile, hits like D’banj’s “Oliver Twist,” Davido’s “Fall,” Burna Boy’s “Ye,” and P-Square’s “Chop My Money (Remix)” also stormed the top 10.
Rounding out the top 20 are legendary tracks such as Styl-Plus’ “Olufunmi” (No. 11), 9ice’s “Gongo Aso” (No. 12), P-Square’s “Do Me” (No. 13), Davido’s “Dami Duro” (No. 14), Yemi Alade’s “Johnny” (No. 15 – the highest female entry), Wande Coal’s “Bumper to Bumper” (No. 17), and Phyno ft. Olamide’s “Fada Fada” (No. 20).
This list not only highlights Afrobeats’ global takeover but also celebrates its Nigerian dominance and cultural impact.
