Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has expressed strong confidence ahead of Nigeria’s crucial clash against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The defender assured fans that the team is fully ready to give their all and fight for maximum points at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Currently sitting third in Group C with 14 points, Nigeria must win and hope South Africa slips against Rwanda. Troost-Ekong admitted qualification isn’t fully in their control but promised a spirited performance.
“There are players here who want to make names for themselves, and those who will want their names to go down well in history. So, they are fully prepared and will play to win,” Troost-Ekong said. “Tomorrow may not be 100 per cent in our hands, but we try to do our best and win the match.”
